Server infrastructure powering managed hosting

Why we offer hosting

Your web host plays a significant role in your site's performance

We created our hosting to ensure our clients had an affordable way to run high-performing, secure sites.

Our hosting exists to solve a specific problem: many popular hosts overload their servers with sites, resulting in slow loading, poor performing sites. Others engage in practices that make sites harder to maintain. Genuinely good managed hosts are excellent, but often cost more per month than many of our clients are willing to spend.

We kept finding that a client’s site was underperforming for reasons that had nothing to do with how it was built. So we put together a high-performance environment on enterprise infrastructure, standardized it, automated the maintenance, and priced it at what it costs us to run rather than at what the market will bear.

Our servers sit in major data centers and are managed by leading infrastructure providers, with hardware support available around the clock. We add proactive maintenance on top: managing updates, running backups, overseeing security and anti-bot measures.

Managed means managed

Hosting plus a WordPress Care Plan, in one price

Everything you need to keep your site updated and secure.

With standard web hosting, a host sells you space and bandwidth on a server. Everything else is yours: updating plugins, themes, and the WordPress core, and making sure backups actually run. Skip those and the site is exposed to attack or data loss — and an enormous number of sites have not been updated or backed up in years.

Everything we host includes a full WordPress Care Plan included in the price. Same updates, same Patchstack vulnerability monitoring, same off-site backups, same update services. We bundle them because it is the only way to keep servers genuinely secure and responsive, and because it means one person is accountable when something goes wrong rather than two companies pointing at each other.

What’s included

Static sites

Static site hosting

For sites with no database behind them. $20 a year.

Not every site needs a content management system like WordPress. Sites that don't require frequent content updates or changes are often better built as static sites — the pages are generated once, ahead of time, and what sits on the server is a folder of finished HTML, CSS and images. Modern tools like Astro, Hugo and Eleventy make these very cost efficient to build, and are significant performance and security benefits. This website is an example (built on Astro).

Static Site Hosting

$20 /year per site

  • Global CDN delivery — fast everywhere, not just nearby
  • Free SSL certificates, renewed automatically
  • DNS hosting and management
  • No traffic limits

Why it costs a fraction of WordPress hosting

A WordPress site is a program that runs on every single visit. PHP executes, a database is queried, plugins run, and the page is assembled and sent. That machinery needs a real server, and the server needs patching, monitoring and backing up.

A static site requires none of that. There is no database to corrupt, no login screen to attack, no plugins to fall out of date, and no code on the server for anyone to exploit. Nothing needs updating, because there is nothing running. A traffic spike costs nothing extra because nothing is being computed — the same finished files are handed out faster.

So the price reflects what it actually costs us to run: DNS, certificates, deployments and CDN delivery. There is no maintenance to charge for, significantly lowering costs. A WordPress Care Plan is not needed and is not sold alongside this — there is nothing we need to maintain.

The trade-off

Content changes require a redeployment of site files. For a site whose pages change a few times a year, that is a non-issue and we handle it at the standard hourly rate. If you need to edit copy every week without calling anyone, WordPress or a content management system wired into the build is the better fit, and we'll recommend what will work best. If you're technically savvy, we can also train you to run deployments yourself.

Migration

Moving an existing site

Included in the price of hosting - minimal downtime required.

If you're moving your site to our servers we handle the migration at no charge: copying the site and database, testing it on the new server before anything changes publicly, then cutting DNS over at a time that suits you. For most small sites there is little to no visible downtime.

Before migrating we check that the site runs on a currently supported PHP version and that nothing installed has an open security vulnerability. If it does not meet that bar we will tell you what needs updating and what it will cost at our hourly rate. We would rather fix it first than migrate a problem.

You keep your own domain registration and your own administrative access. If you ever want to leave, everything you need to go elsewhere is already in your hands.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is there a risk in hosting my site with a small company?
This is a great question and we are glad clients ask it. Every client, whether they update their own site or not, should hold an administrative login to it. WordPress is a widespread open source platform — hand those credentials to any other developer or host and they can migrate your site elsewhere. That access is what protects you. Without it, a provider can effectively hold your site hostage, and we have been involved in a few delicate negotiations of exactly that sort on behalf of clients. As for the servers themselves: they are professionally managed by major infrastructure companies with 24-hour hardware support and are paid a year in advance, so they do not disappear if we are unreachable.
Do you host sites you did not build or do not maintain?
Yes, provided the site can run a currently supported version of PHP and its plugins and themes are up to date with no open security vulnerabilities. If it does not meet that bar, we are happy to review and update it at our hourly rate before migrating.
Do you offer refunds, or am I locked in for a year?
Hosting is paid a year upfront, but the unused portion is fully refundable. You are not locked in.
Is there an uptime guarantee?
Yes — 99.9%. If the server your site sits on is offline for more than 0.1% of any calendar month, that month's hosting fee is credited back to you.
Does hosting include making changes to my site?
No. Hosting and the care plan cover keeping the site running, updated, secure and backed up. Content changes and new development are billed at our hourly rate of $105/hr, or we can set up a monthly package if you have a predictable amount of change work.
Do you host anything other than WordPress?
Yes. Statically generated sites — Astro, Hugo, Eleventy or plain HTML — are hosted at $20/year, because there is no database or plugin stack to maintain. Other CMS platforms and most standard PHP applications are fine too; get in touch and describe what you are running.
What if I already have a host I like?
Then keep them. Our standalone WordPress Care Plan gives you the maintenance, security monitoring and backups without moving anything, for $10/month.
