Network Services
Wi-Fi that reaches the whole house, business networks that stay up, and cabling that has been properly tested.
Computer Support
We have been helping people with technology since the late 1990s. What started as a computer repair business has grown into significantly broader offerings, but troubleshooting and repair are still core services.
Support and repair
Keeping costs down through flexible solutions.
When a device works and can reach the internet, the vast majority of support can be handled over an encrypted screen-sharing session. It is faster to schedule, there is no travel charge, and you can watch everything we do and even record it.
There is also a cost advantage: during long-running processes like a large download or a full malware scan, we can keep an eye on progress while working on something else, so you are only billed for active labor rather than for waiting.
Some things cannot be done remotely — a machine that will not boot, a failed drive that needs replacing, a connection that has dropped entirely, or a new setup that needs physical installation. For those we come to you.
We are based in Washington, DC and serve the entire DC metro area. We also travel to southwestern Connecticut and northern Vermont regularly. Travel to other areas can be arranged for larger projects.
Backup and recovery
Robust backup and recovery strategies for small business and home users.
The most reliable backup strategies follow the 3-2-1 rule: three copies of your data (the original plus two backups), on two different devices, with one copy off-site. It may sound like a lot, but it ensures that your data will survive any local disaster.
We can put together an affordable and reliable backup approach for a home or a business, covering both local and off-site options, and audit whatever you already have to check it is genuinely running. For anything mission critical we can go further — a hot standby or a bootable backup that lets you keep working within minutes of a failure.
If you have already lost data, we will assess your options. In the best case we restore from a backup. If a machine will not start, data is frequently still recoverable by other means as long as the storage device has not completely failed. We will establish whether conventional recovery is realistic or whether the drive needs to go to a specialized lab.
Small business
Planning, deployment and ongoing support for small businesses.
Deploying technology in a business brings its own problems. If you are upgrading an office, opening a new one, or replacing an aging fleet of machines, we can make recommendations, obtain hardware quotes, order equipment and execute an installation and migration plan - then coordinate whatever training your team needs, including custom documentation where it helps.
How often do you actually check that backups are running, that antivirus is current, that security patches have installed, and that maintenance tasks on your server completed? For most small businesses the honest answer is “when something goes wrong.”
A managed service contract puts that on a schedule: we connect remotely (or visit) at a regular interval and verify that everything is secure and functioning. Contracts can include a set number of support hours if you want predictable monthly costs, and are quoted based on how many machines and how much oversight you need.
All support and project work is billed at $105/hr on a time and materials basis. See the rates page for travel costs and the emergency rate policy.
